The Wyoming Association of School Business Officials (WASBO) was originally founded in 1960 and was known as RMASBO (Rocky Mountain Association of School Business Officials), a regional organization which included Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado. In 1988 WASBO was formed as a State organization and is an affiliate of the International Association of School Business Officials (ASBO International).
The Wyoming Association of School Business Officials (WASBO) empowers individuals and organizations involved in school business through leadership, training, legislative and regulatory advocacy, communication, mentoring and research and development .
WASBO is an organization of school districts and dedicated education professionals who are responsible for every financial and operational facet of public schools in Wyoming. Our members oversee all areas of finance, accounting, human resources, risk management, transportation, school nutrition, maintenance and operations, technology, purchasing , school safety and school facilities . The Chief Business Official in school districts serve as the chief financial officer managing these numerous and diverse areas of school business. Expert personnel working with members in districts and school sites manage and staff each of these important functions to make schools clean, safe and well-run institutions.
Since 1960, WASBO has been providing leadership and professional development in school business. WASBO promotes professionalism throughout the field of school business management and acts as a forum for sharing problems, solutions, experiences and information among districts across the state. WASBO provides networking opportunities within a professional community that represents a diverse group of school business professionals. Members are encouraged to participate in all educational, informational and governance activities of the organization. It is characterized by an environment that features fun, collegiality and open communication. It is a recognized resource for current and best practices in school business management.
The organization actively pursues and creates mutually beneficial relationships with other professional and trade organizations in the broader educational community and works within coalitions to serve as a resource for public policy-making. School administrators and school board members are aware of the organization and its value to effective school operations. WASBO is recognized for its relevant educational programs, member communications systems, information resources, governance processes and professional management.

- Leadership in the most important finance and administrative issues facing public schools through active and effective Legislative Advocacy .
- Professional Development programs second to none in all of the professions within school business. These activities include workshops, conferences, symposia and seminars in easily accessible locations for the dissemination and exchange of current information in school business.
- Continuing Education programs including the PRC Certification to prepare school business professionals for career advancement.
- Semi- Annual Conferences that provides well-timed, specific workshops and opportunities to learn from colleagues.

• Purposes – To improve the efficiency, performance and ethical conduct in the practice of school business management; to sponsor and conduct research concerning school business management and administration and provide such information to members and interested organizations; to develop leadership at the state and international level; to recruit qualified members; to cooperate with other educational associations in planning and conducting workshops, conferences, and seminars involving areas of school business; to inform the appropriate legislative bodies and governmental agencies of the Association’s position on key legislative issues relating to the administration of the educational enterprise; to assist in securing adequate financial support for education; to meet other identified needs of the profession and membership; to develop and administer a voluntary registration program for all Wyoming school business officials.
